On Tuesday, my Policy Advisor/Field Representative Logan Ueno attended and presented at Brea City Council meeting a Certificate of Recognition to outgoing Mayor Christine Marick at the City of Brea’s reorganization meeting.
Mayor Marick was first elected to the City Council in 2012, and re-elected in 2016 and 2020. This is her third time as Brea’s mayor. She previously served as mayor in 2016 and 2020. Thank you Mayor Marick for your service and dedication to improving the quality of life for all Brea residents.

Last Thursday, my office donated 50 backpacks to the Buena Park School District. Office Ambassador Paulette Chaffee and my Policy Advisor Brock Chadsey helped hand out the backpacks to students at Buena Park Middle School.
Student success starts with the right tools and supplies in the classroom. I am glad to be able to donate these much needed items to ensure every student is able to go to school prepared. 🎒

Last Thursday, Office Ambassador Paulette Chaffee attended the Muckenthaler’s Dr. James Young Arts Legacy Award ceremony. 🎨🖼️🖌️
Each year the James Young Legacy Award is presented to an individual who has made a long-term impact on Arts Education in the local Fullerton community. The recipient is chosen by a committee that includes local arts leaders, previous recipients, and Muckenthaler board members.
This year’s recipient is Katherine England, a visual artist who teaches in schools, in her studio, and at art retreats nationwide. In addition to creating and promoting public works of art, Katherine has taught and has been an activist for art education in the public school system for nearly twenty years.
The event was filled with former students from past years, all there to recognize her on her work in making art accessible and available in the City of Fullerton. Congratulations Katherine on this great achievement!

On Saturday, we held our annual Drive Thru Holiday Food Distribution Event in partnership with United Across Borders, ICNA Relief, OC United Way, and CalOptima Health at Sonora High School in La Habra.
At the event, attendees received a meat voucher worth $25 to be redeemed at Northgate Market along with a food box. They also received a hygiene kit provided by CalOptima Health, OC Health Care Agency and OC United Way.
We were able to serve over 1000 families and help bring some holiday cheer.
Thank you to all our partners and volunteers that came and helped at the event. Special thanks to Sonora High School for use of their facilities along with Sonora ASB that volunteered at our event. Lastly, big thanks to the La Habra Police Department and Public Works for assisting with the event!

I was honored to participate in the 130th California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Conference alongside my Chief of Staff, Al Jabbar, and my Senior Policy Advisor, Jessica Guerrero.
A great opportunity to network with my Supervisor colleagues across the 58 counties in California. There were robust conversations about a variety of policy issues including housing, transportation, criminal justice, healthcare, waste management, and more.

Yesterday, my Office Ambassador Paulette Chaffee attended Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) School of Nursing 50 years breakfast celebration.
The event showcased all the programs that CSUF has established for nursing students.
As CalOptima Health Director, I established a stipend program to increase the number of students in the jumpstart and concurrent enrollment program. The 5 million dollar grant to the CSUF School of Nursing will help decrease the nursing shortage here in Orange County and help more students finish their schooling without worrying about possible financial burden.
Congratulations to the CSUF Nursing school on reaching this impressive milestone and their successful programs.

#TeamChaffee participated in the annual Kid Builders event in partnership with First 5 Orange County, La Habra’s Little Learners, La Habra Collaborative, and PNC Bank.
We know that while every child develops at their own rate, there are important milestones that children reach in how they play, learn, speak, act and move. 🚼
Since parents are their children’s first teacher and playmate, First 5 OC worked with a team of experts to create the Kid Builder activities. KidBuilders are free, fun and easy activities that parents can do with their young kids to help them grow and learn.🧑🧒🧒
